Marc Meyers
Marc is an American film director and screenwriter. He is the co-founder of Ibid Filmworks alongside fellow producer Jody Girgenti.
He is always developing new stories in various shapes and sizes, and looking forward to sharing them with you soon. Previous films include:
The romantic drama ALL MY LIFE for Universal Pictures, starring Jessica Rothe & Harry Shum. It was released Christmas 2020. Screenplay by Todd Rosenberg.
Dramatic thriller HUMAN CAPITAL, starring Liev Schrieber, Marisa Tomei, Peter Sarsgaard, Maya Hawke, and Alex Wolff, premiered at the 2019 Toronto International Film Festival and was released in March 2020 by Vertical Entertainment, with Universal & WarnerMedia releasing the film internationally. Screenplay by Oren Moverman.
The heavy-metal genre flick WE SUMMON THE DARKNESS stars Alexandra Daddario, Johnny Knoxville, Amy Forsyth, and Maddie Hasson. It was released in April 2020 by Lionsgate. Owen Gleiberman of Variety said, “Meyers refuses to treat the slasher movie as a cheeky debased genre. What happens going forward may be insane, but he stages it with a cunning visual-dramatic logic… it feels like it could be the first horror film directed by Richard Linklater.” Screenplay by Alan Trezza.
Previous features have all been written & directed by Meyers. They include the critically-acclaimed cult hit MY FRIEND DAHMER, a FilmRise & Altitude Films release — based on his Blacklist screenplay adapted from the best-selling graphic novel of the same name.
MY FRIEND DAHMER, stars former Disney star Ross Lynch, Alex Wolff, and Anne Heche. It premiered at the 2017 Tribeca Film Festival and was invited to numerous prestigious festivals around the world including Deauville, London, Sitges, Frameline, Rome, Fantasia, and Fantastic Fest. Rolling Stone’s Peter Travers called it “a warped wonder of a movie.” Following its strong theatrical run, it aired on HBO and continues to chart on iTunes, Amazon, and other VOD channels.
HOW HE FELL IN LOVE, starring Matt McGorry & Amy Hargreaves, premiered at the 2015 Los Angeles Film Festival and was released the following summer via Orion Pictures and Monument Releasing.
HARVEST, a NY Times Critics Pick starring Jack Carpenter and Academy Award Nominees Robert Loggia and Barbara Barrie, was released in 2010. His debut feature APPROACHING UNION SQUARE premiered at the Montreal World Film Festival and aired on Sundance Channel.
Marc is an alumnus of various theater collectives in New York including the Ensemble Studio Theatre and Cherry Lane Theatre. He’s grateful for the mentorship of Milan Stitt, Tom Noonan, and other artists. He started as a writer/director by turning his one-act plays into short films.
Marc lives with his wife and daughter in Brooklyn, NY, where he often lovingly fills the roles of short-order cook, chauffeur, and sherpa.
